If the licking is limited to one paw then this often suggests that the source of trouble is right there on the paw. Licking one paw only if your dog suddenly starts licking their paws then it is usually indicative of pain or irritation especially if they are licking only one paw. Dogs frequently lick their paw pads as a reaction to the discomfort of their allergies whether to dust cleaning agents or anything else in their living spaces. This gnawing in turn often leads to irritation and swelling of the area.
